Redefining the hostel experience

Generator Hostels was an established and successful, family-owned operation with two properties in London and Berlin. A takeover by a private equity firm has seen eight new hostel’s added to the portfolio with new properties in the pipeline. This aggressive growth strategy is part of a revolutionary vision — creating design led interiors in central locations, with a vibrant atmosphere at an excellent price. We needed to create a brand that lived and breathed this unique and exciting offer.

The solution

An extensive audit of the existing brand and competitor landscape revealed a massive opportunity to create impact in a sea of mediocrity. Following creative workshops with Generator we created a brand that had attitude, energy and passion that testing proved connected with a young, savvy audience under a new vision – ‘redefining the hostel experience’. We then rolled this brand out across all touchpoints including a new website, marketing templates, photography, brand guidelines and interior branding and wayfinding.

The result

With the launch of the new brand the vision is becoming reality. Vivid and innovative, the new logo, colours and typeface give the brand a fresh, young feel that attracts and engages guests. Inspiring imagery and a tone of voice packed with personality ensures Generator is setting the pace as the place to be.
